When I was younger I always wanted to play instruments. I come from a very musical family so it was always encouraged to want to play. In 8th grade I got this idea in my head that I wanted to play the Ukelele. My friends love me so they purchased one for me for Christmas.
I went right to work trying to learn chords and looking up youtube videos. There are so many tutorials you can find online so I knew I would not have a problem trying to find some tutorials giving instruction. I was obsessed with learning new songs and playing them for my family despite my terrible singing voice.
I started to play Ukelele more than my violin! My mom did not enjoy that too much so she would take the Uke away from me until I practiced violin that day. This taught me discipline and time managment which has helped me in the long run although I hated it at the time because all I wanted to do was play my ukelele. I have not had time recently to play my ukelele but whenever I do I have a calming sense and love what I am doing. There is so much more to music than just what you hear.
